A new survey reveals that over half of Britons would be open to trying an elite fitness programme
The Lensbury Club is proud to announce the launch of a new lounge for club members. Home to elite sports teams including the All Blacks, Manchester United and the Lionesses as they prepare for key games and tournaments, the Club has drawn on this deep sporting connection to create the private tailored space for members to relax and recharge.
With contemporary design enhanced by the open, naturally lit style, the newly unveiled lounge is an exclusive enhancement to membership conceived to become a regular stop in members' busy lives.
Central to the concept is the café, presenting the nutrient and protein-packed healthy menu designed in partnership with award-winning specialist consultancy, Egg Soldiers. Salads, sandwiches and freshly blended, vitamin-rich smoothies will all be made in The Lensbury's kitchens, as will the tempting snacks served alongside them. Complementing this will be premium coffee from independent baristas Mozzo, using state-of-the-art machines.
Set in 25 acres of stunning gardens and grounds on the banks of the Thames in Teddington, The Lensbury Club [1] offers wellness reimagined, with something for everyone, including the extensive gym and fitness facilities, 24 tennis courts, squash courts, 25m swimming pool and a watersports centre on the river
New market research by One Poll into current attitudes to fitness and the boundaries of physical performance on the theme ‘Can everyone be elite?' is consistent with The Lensbury's brand positioning as ‘openly exclusive'.
The survey revealed that over half (53%) of Britons were open to trying an elite sports training programme, although 40% had no interest on the grounds that ‘it might kill them', with about a third (29%) believing they would need to get fitter first. In contrast to the national figures, only around a fifth of Londoners (19%) had no interest in trying an elite fitness programme.
Just under half (45%) of Britons believe natural foods are the most important form of nutrition for elite performance. Perhaps showing the impact of a faster pace of life, Londoners were on average 6% more likely to prefer supplements, vitamins, protein bars/shakes and electrolyte drinks to gain the nutrients they would need.
Over two-thirds (69%) of Britons believe mindset and mental factors are essential to performing as an elite athlete. Women more strongly believe (+11% average) these are essential, while men more strongly believe (+4% average) physical factors are key.
Surprisingly, less than half of Britons (47%) believe you need to be passionate about a sport to reach elite levels.
With the new members' lounge sitting at the heart of the Club's fitness and wellness facilities, the Lensbury has worked with bespoke interior design practice Trevillion to ensure it would meet members' expectations.
The new club members' lounge will officially open on Wednesday 15th May 2024.
Claire Llewellin-Davis, Managing Director, The Lensbury, said: "Everyone needs time to recharge and reset, but it's often difficult to do so given the competing demands on our time. Our vision for the new lounge was to create a dedicated, exclusive space that embodies and supports The Lensbury's focus on health and wellbeing. Providing an exclusive area for relaxation and socialising gives members that much needed third place, outside home and work, which provides an opportunity to decompress and build connections that will enhance their membership experience."
Frances Blackham, Design Director, Trevillion, added: "The design has taken inspiration from the stunning location, gardens and grounds, the elite sports teams that use The Lensbury and the rich heritage that surrounds The Club. It was our intention to create a social space at the heart of the Clubhouse with a homely feel by using natural and tactile materials with a fresh colour palette. We're delighted with the end result."
