Eureka moment:
Obé started life as a
promise. After my young daughter finished her weekly swimming lesson, her
latest swim cap had let water in again. They just aren't designed for the way
our hair grows. What followed was an ordeal we are all too familiar with,
attempting to shampoo and condition the damaging chlorine out of my daughter's
hair. My daughter got so upset that a couple of other well-intentioned swimmers
raised concerns with the Duty Manager, who came to do a well-being check. To
think they thought I was harming my daughter utterly devastated me. So, with a
broken heart and tears in my eyes, I promised Kayla I would find her a solution
that would stop this from happening again and encourage her to feel empowered
in the water.
Finance:
Privately funded.
Regrets:
From day one, I should
have set strict boundaries for a better work-life-balance. Knowing when to
stop, switch off from work mode, reset, recharge and most importantly spend
more quality time with my family. More recently, I have had to learn the hard
way. Having to stop due to illness and loss of vitality.
What would you have changed?
Not a thing. But I'm giving myself permission to live more and be gentler with myself whilst embracing the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, and having more courage to change the things I can change and wisdom to 'own' the difference. Ultimately trusting in the process and it's unfolding.
