Royal mail has received a massive Ofcom fine of £10.5 million, nearly double the 22/23 fine for inability to make on target deliveries for both first and second class mail for 23/24.
With the price of a first class stamp now £1.65, more than a pound dearer than ten years ago and no guarantee when the recipient will receive it, the number of Christmas cards is an early expense to cut down on for sure with much cheaper online options available.
The performance targets handed down by the Ofcom were:
- To deliver 93% of first class mail within one working day of collection; and
- To deliver 98.5% of second class mail within three working days of collection.
They actually delivered 74.5% of first class mail within one working day; and delivered 92.4% of second class mail within three working days.
