Eureka moment

Another Concept was born out of a desire to reinvent the client-agency model. After 10+ years in the industry, working in-house, agency-side and in freelance roles, it was clear to me that so many clients were not getting value from their performance marketing agency. Some were being overcharged, others were sold false promises and many were unable to contact the people who were supposed to be working on their account.

I realised that (with the help of my co-founders), we could offer a unique model that would provide much greater value for clients: an agency that's expert led, puts clients first and prides itself on open and honest communications.

Finances

Running a startup is tough, particularly when it comes to cashflow. It involves lots of sleepless nights, tough decisions and longer-term fiscal planning. I was shocked at how little support you get from the government and the tax bill is eye-watering. Thankfully, we have a great accountant who keeps on top of everything, so we can focus on the day job.

Regrets

My only real regret is not taking the plunge sooner. We'd spent countless hours socialising in bars and restaurants together over 10+ years talking about what we could improve if we started our own agency. Now we know for certain, and the results we've achieved have been fantastic.

What would you have changed

Hired sooner. We all worked lots of incredibly long hours, which you need to do in the early days. But hiring has been fantastic for us and freed us up to spend longer on the areas we really need to focus on as business owners.
