London leads work/life balance
London-based workers believe they enjoy the best work/life balance in the UK, according to the findings of a survey by American Express.
The research found that despite the long commutes and crowded tube journeys, 64% of workers in the capital think they have the best balance compared to just one-third of employees in Northern Ireland, which came bottom of the poll.
Over three-quarters of those polled said a good work/life balance was crucial to their working lives although 64% admitted to regularly staying late at work.
Newly launched organisation Working Families claims bosses have a key role to play in establishing a balanced work/life blend. “It’s great to see London bosses topping the poll in understanding the importance of work-life balance,” said the group’s chief executive Sarah Jackson.
“It really helps you to deal with the pressures of working life today if your boss understands the importance of work-life balance and makes it happen for everyone in their team.”Post Date: September 25th, 2007
